Welcome, Friends!
All Our Brave Hearts is a project by Danny Whitty, nonspeaking autistic writer and advocate (also known as Danny With Words), and Tara Whitty, his sister, ally, and main Communication Regulation Partner. Danny communicates using Spelling to Communicate (S2C) - he did not have access to reliable communication until his 30s. This has changed our lives in beautiful, exhilarating, surprising, and even challenging ways.
This podcast shares and explores our experiences and perspectives as a disabled person and one of his main allies and support people, but it also goes beyond disability to inspire (urge?) a rethinking of how we value people and how we view interdependence. We encourage all to listen in, even (especially!) if you don’t know much about disability. We truly believe that a better world comes from all of our brave hearts working to better understand and care for others, even those who might seem very different from ourselves.
What is All Our Brave Hearts?
This is a podcast, with transcripts posted here, that posts a new episode every other week. The central theme is interdependence, through the lens of our experiences as a high-support-needs disabled man and one of his sisters. Every ~4th episode is a Q&A, so please send us your questions! You can also listen on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
